Gold ‘Au Tower’ proposed for Southport

Gold ‘Au Tower’ proposed for Southport

While Surfers Paradise has long been known as the ‘glitter strip’, it may lose its crown to Southport if a golden-hued tower is approved. The development, dubbed the ‘Au Tower’ in reference to the atomic symbol for gold, is being put forward by the ASF Consortium.

ASF Consortium has submitted plans to City of Gold Coast for a multi-million dollar development in the heart of Southport. The development features two towers, a 15-level mid-rise building and a 66-storey super tower that will be the third tallest development proposed for the suburb. The development will consist of 474 one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom apartments and 120 serviced apartments.

Designed by Cox Rayner Architects, the largest of the two towers would feature gold glazing to provide a point of difference and will take on shades ranging from light green, light blue and gold depending on the sun’s position.
