Many of us may not have graduated beyond the scouting knots of our youth, but one clever Brisbane creative has rediscovered a love of rope and used it to craft a beautiful collection of homewares and accessories. Clare Collyer’s studio on the city’s southside pays homage to the seemingly humdrum textile, combining it with colourful fabrics and threads to produce bowls, dishes, coasters, pot holders, market bags and key rings. Green thumbs will be charmed by the Zillpa cotton rope plant hanger, which sees the likes of red, blue, purple and green zig-zagged through natural rope to bring a zing of colour to your home.

Clare designs and manufactures the Zillpa range herself, also offering a custom-order service for customers with special requests. Her range of homewares and accessories is available online through the Zillpa e-store and Etsy, or at The Collective Store in Wynnum or Side Street Vintage in Hawthorne.
