Shape an indoor jungle with Mossy Antlers terrariums

Dashes of greenery are known to spruce up an indoor space and bring smiles to our faces when said plants are thriving happily. But keeping this foliage in good health is a talent many attempted gardeners struggle with. Taking the effort out of planting your own miniature green arrangements is Mossy Antlers.

The creation of Chris Beavon, Mossy Antlers produces terrariums with a smidge of quirk. Passionate about making indoor spaces green, Chris studied plant science at university and now works as a botanist during the day, with Mossy Antlers a side project to get a little creative with plants. Scattered amongst the cacti, succulents, ferns, moss and stones within a Mossy Antlers fish bowl are the odd owl, dinosaur and skeleton figurine. These elements of surprise bring character to your indoor greenery, yielding a smirk on unsuspecting glancers’ faces.

Chris says a misconception about terrariums is that they are self-sufficient, but in fact they require some love and attention. Cacti in particular need plenty of upkeep, with this desert plant, surprisingly, loving a good shower of water and generally enjoying a bit of sun – but to the point of a crispy, direct sunbake. Work takes Chris away from Brisbane a lot, but he’s got a bit of spare time on his hands at the moment, so expect the likes of moss art, pressed flower preservations and whole flowers kept in jars in the near future. Pick up one of the current offerings at Two Trees in West End.
