White Mountaineering brings a rugged touch of winter

We’ve suddenly felt the cool touches of winter here in The Weekend Edition office, which means it’s time to start planning our wardrobe for the chilly season.

While we’ll admit that our office leans more towards the female majority, it doesn’t stop us from dreaming about the delights of gentleman’s garb – in particular the rugged designs of Japanese brand, White Mountaineering.

Since mastering his craft under the watchful eye of Junya Watanabe at Comme des Garçons, Yosuke Aizawa and his rapidly rising label have gained a worldwide audience through their multi-tiered approach to menswear. Artfully synthesising the elements of design, utility and technology, Yosuke draws as much from traditional heritage, functional outdoorwear as it does to the latest innovations in fabric technologies and construction – all the while channelling the fearless creativity that seems to be synonymous with Japanese designers. This season’s Dune Rover collection sees Yosuke deliver a heavily textured and rugged offering with a tribal twist.

With wardrobe basics including the essential chambray shirts, patterned socks, hunting jackets (perhaps more symbolic than practical), cargo pants and sneakers, White Mountaineering provides the necessary kit for gents who like to look their best whilst exploring the rough outdoors.

White Mountaineering is available exclusively in Brisbane from Apartment in Charlotte Street in the CBD.
