TWE War: Popular Penguins

Publisher releases War Popular Penguins: WWI series

For many, World War I is an event too distant in our history to even envisage – often only dog-eared letters and worn photographs can offer small glimpses into our ancestors’ experiences.

A century since The Great War commenced, 2014 also marks the release of Penguin’s War Popular Penguins: WWI series. From WWI came a wealth of literature – documentation and recreations that became a small library of war-related stories – and some of the best anti-war writing to exist.

The new Penguin collection is set to include C.E.W. Bean, Patsy Adams-Smith, Phillip Schuler, Leonard Mann, Robert Graves, Charles Yale Harrison, Roy Kyle, Frederic Manning, George Walter and Ernst Jünger. Sharing some of the most thought-provoking and authoritative voices of World War I, including the soldiers who experienced the efforts first-hand, the classic set will bring new life to these significant tales.
