Wrap yourself up in wearable art from Sydney’s Wah Wah

Whoever said knitted sweaters weren’t punk rock obviously has never seen the stylish beauties crafted and distributed by Wah Wah. The creator of cool and cosy clothes is renowned for teaming up with bands to reimagine album artwork as comfy jumpers. Before winter ends, consider adding a couple of these eye-catching numbers to your wardrobe.

It’s safe to say the Brisbane’s winter is pretty mild, so there’s never a risk of freezing on the spot like there is in Melbourne or Hobart. That being said, a nice knitted jumper is usually perfect for our climate, and if you can avoid the daggy factor then that’s a plus. Wah Wah specialises in knitted jumpers that are a far cry from the creative numbers you might have received as a birthday or Christmas present years ago. Sydney-based designer Kaylene Milner is the brain behind the brand, which produces jumpers emblazoned with art from punk rock albums and other creatives.

Wah Wah’s collection of jumpers include collaborations with bands such as The Hard-Ons, Dinosaur Jr., The Meanies, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard and Silverchair, as well as designs from illustrators such as Ben Montero and R.Crumb. Kaylene designs each image pixel by pixel, before sending them to local manufacturers to reproduce the design on Australian wool. Head to the Wah Wah web store to get your hands on these stylish threads before winter disappears for another year.
