V Ave Shoe Repair creates manly footwear

What started in Sweden eight years ago as an experimental jersey-draped women’s line, has blossomed into a global fashion brand that caters to the stylishly inclined gent.

V Ave Shoe Repair (pronounced ‘fifth avenue’, in case you’re perplexed by Roman numerals), is led by Astrid Olsson and Lee Cotter, who craft their intricate line of ready-to-wear pieces in their Stockholm atelier, housed in an old brewery building.

Amongst the duo’s latest creations is the men’s String Boot, which – while it’s marketed to the Europeans as being perfect for ‘early spring’ – is a manly but stylish choice for Brisbane’s mild winter. Constructed from tumble-dried Italian leather and accented with copper studs, the boot harks back to the solid yet dapper footwear of the old, bearded pioneers.

The V Ave Shoe Repair String Boot is available locally from Fallow on Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley.
