Scribble Friday June 21 into your calendars, for it will mark a day that has the potential to shape Brisbane fashion history, as UnCommon Store officially opens its doors to the public. The open studio and boutique is the brainchild of Brisbane fashion mentor Jodie Hilton, who has been supporting local emerging designers through her creative agency and collaborative studio The New Garde since 2016. The launch is a strategic move forward for the agency, which aims to offer a retail outlet from which these independent designers can sell and develop their collections, while also giving shoppers a chance to snap up unique, locally designed pieces. The petite 80-square-foot space is currently being renovated in time for its official reveal next week. Shoppers will be able to enjoy full view of the design studio, along with personal stylist consultations, in-house alterations, refreshments and gift wrapping. Online buyers won’t miss out on the great customer service either, with The Trunk Club offering size reservations, curbside pick-up and easy returns.

Every brand hanging on the racks at UnCommon Store has been nurtured by The New Garde, including the collaborative Maison Garde, Stranger, Astille Designs, Skuel Work Apparel, Fred Archer and more. Head along to the boutique’s official launch party on Friday June 21 to take advantage of The New Garde’s open house, brand launches and joint celebrations with the newly renovated WINNston Hair.
