Bring your home to life with custom ceramics from Two Warm Hands
Miya Valmadre-McCrae has always loved the arts. Having studied gold and silver smithing many moons ago, Miya also went onto to teach in primary and secondary school as well as run private art classes for children and adults. It was when Urbane Restaurant commissioned Miya to do a range of crockery for the restaurant that her devotion to ceramics became firm.
Miya spent a year working on her ceramics for a commercial kitchen to produce the Urbane range. Establishing the label Two Warm Hands, Miya now sells her range of homewares and jewellery each Saturday at the Davies Park Markets and occasionally at the Red Hill Farmers Market.
Two warm hands is a collection made from stoneware clay that is vitrified to keep water out and can be fired at a higher temperatures making it more durable. The Two Warm Hands range is earthy and rustic, with eclectic and vintage inspired elements. Colour and texture is starting to come into play and Miya is constantly exploring innovative techniques with her works. The range includes platters, vases, cups, plates, bowls, jugs, spoons, planters and candle holders as well as porcelain earrings and necklaces.
Two Warm Hands also do custom-orders for restaurants or the likes of wedding gifts.
