Shop local (from the comfort of your couch) at The Village Markets’ first-ever Insta Market this weekend
For the past 12 years, The Village Markets has been an integral platform for makers and creators across the Gold Coast and Brisbane. It’s so much more than just a successful market – it’s a creative community for small businesses, as well as a stepping stone that has turned countless local designers (like Peony and Zulu & Zephyr) into international brands. It’s a facilitator of entrepreneurship. A mentoring hub for people with a dream. Even now, amid these insanely unsettling times, TVM’s support for the creative community remains unhindered. Instead of a physical market, TVM is going digital – and its first-ever Insta Market is happening this weekend.
Government restrictions have forced The Village Markets to cease running its Burleigh Heads and Stones Corner events for now, which means that hundreds of small businesses have been left with no market to trade at. So, co-founders Marissa Bowden and Sarah Schoeller have developed a new way to support these businesses – TVM’s Insta Market, the first of which is happening this Friday, Saturday and Sunday (March 27–29). The digital initiative will showcase businesses that are struggling to trade in the coronavirus pandemic to a wider global community – at a time when most of us are self-isolating, quarantined or distancing.
Grab your phone and jump to TVM’s Instagram stories across the weekend to see fashion brands, jewellery, accessories, lifestyle products, art and homewares showcased from a range of brands across the country, with special deals, one-off discounts and exclusive online access to roll out across the three days. Plus, the stories will also feature shout-outs to local food trucks so people can find out more about their current services and offerings, as well as tunes from much-loved local musicians. TVM is opening its virtual doors so you can shop up a storm from the comfort of your couch – grab some takeaway from your local and settle in for a shopping spree!
If you’re a brand that wants to join, head to the TVM website to complete the application. Spots are limited.
