Save the planet and slip into a zero-waste compostable bra from The Very Good Bra
It’s no surprise that the concept of slow fashion is certainly making its mark in Australia. A huge high-five to those making conscious decisions when it comes to fashion pieces, but here’s a curve ball – how often do we all stop and think about what’s beneath our clothing? Yes, we’re taking about bras, and if you’ve never given the environmental sustainability of your undergarment a second thought, then The Very Good Bra will surely prompt you to do so.
The Very Good Bra is a zero-waste compostable bra (genius, right?), which will launch its Kickstarter campaign this Saturday May 19. Now, The Very Good Bra’s founder Stephanie Devine tells us that the average woman owns around nine bras at any one time, which are all destined for landfill. We’re all very aware of the impact that fast fashion is having on the environment, and while there are lots of people adopting the quality-over-quantity approach, everyday items like bras were really being overlooked – until now.
The Very Good Bra’s wire-free and toxin-free sustainable bras are created with TENCEL, an environmentally friendly botanical fibre that is farmed sustainably from eucalyptus trees – it’s a material that is now known for regulating absorption and releasing moisture, and it requires less water than cotton does to grow and produce. The Very Good Bra also incorporates rubber tree elastic sourced from sustainable forests and have been dyed in line with Global Organic Trading Standards. A comfortable, well-designed bra that’s going to help our fragile planet? Yes, very good.
