Curves for days – The Fold caters for larger cup sizes with its chic swimwear
Whether you personally possess a pair or someone close to you does, you would no doubt be aware of the struggles of life as a woman with breasts that go beyond a D cup. Clothes shopping is hard enough as it is, but when it comes to swimwear the task is practically impossible – why is it so damn hard to find something that’s both supportive and nice to look at? Two women who share this frustration are Carly Warson and Stephanie Korn, Melbourne designers and lifelong friends who decided to take matters into their own hands with The Fold.
Bigger-breasted ladies have long had a raw deal finding a compromise between fashion and function with their swimwear, which is why The Fold is a huge breath of fresh air in the market. After noticing this serious gap in the market, Carly and Stephanie jumped at the chance to use their design knowledge and lived experience to create a range of swimwear that meshed a desirable aesthetic with loads of support. Using lingerie sizing and construction techniques, the pair was able to create swimwear unlike anything else that was on the market, spending a solid three years crafting the perfect D+ swim collection.
When it comes to the design and manufacturing processes, The Fold maintains an eco-conscious and unpretentious model. Each piece is made from superior recycled Italian fabrics in black, light grey, teal and print. Not only is the material chlorine, UV, cream and oil resistant, but it also has an incomparable shape retention quality. Styles are sold separately and according to cup size, taking the guesswork and anxiety out of the shopping experience. The rad news doesn’t stop there – a percentage of every sale goes towards The National Breast Cancer Foundation, with customers given the option to match the donation at checkout.
