Admire exquisite Queensland Ballet costumes at Westfield Carindale

An elegant pas de deux has been conducted between two Queensland icons this week, with Queensland Ballet unveiling an incredible exhibition of more than 40 costumes inside Westfield Carindale.

The subtle shimmer of a headpiece, the delicate wisp of a piece of silk and the artistic layering of a tutu can conjure the captivating magic of the ballet no matter where you’re standing. This week, the ethereal beauty of the Queensland Ballet will be coming to Westfield Carindale, where an incredible series of installations will celebrate the art of costume, fashion and ballet. From the classic costumes of The Little Mermaid, The Nutcracker and A Midsummer Night’s Dream to the 21 delicate beauties from Swan Lake, the archival and working costumes will be sprinkled throughout the shopping centre, hanging from ceilings and suspended above glistening mirrored platforms.

Little dancers will also be charmed by a dedicated installation featuring children’s costumes from ballets such as Cinderella and Coppelia, as well as school holiday activities including performances from Queensland Ballet’s pre-professional program students twice a day and ballet craft workshops. An Exhibition of the Art of Costume will continue until October 26, while the school holiday program will run from September 30 to October 5.
