Sonic Sherpa slings vinyl from new Stones Corner store

Stones Corner locals have welcomed a new record store to the local scene, as Sonic Sherpa sets about fostering a community around music appreciation.

Sonic Sherpa is a new south side hub of all things music that has been created by two lifelong lovers of sound and song – Simon Homer and Steve Bell. Although those names might be unfamiliar, both gents have a long history with the local music scene. Simon was the owner and operator of iconic Brisbane record store Skinny’s, while Steve was the former editor of The Music – one of Australia’s foremost advocators of home grown music. Seeing a resurgence in vinyl appreciation, the duo teamed up to create a welcoming suburban hub with a wide-reaching selection of records, CDs, DVDs, books and assorted memorabilia.

The store stocks a range of new releases and classics from local, national and international acts, and can also be a resource for those looking to track down a rare pressing or limited release. Steve and Simon have collected a range of musical styles, not limiting themselves to any one genre. Sonic Sherpa will be hosting in-store performances and signings in the coming months, as well as setting up pop-up stalls at music festivals such as Falls Music and Arts Festival, Tamworth Country Music Festival and the Gympie Muster with a curated selection of goods for punters to purchase. Customers can also join the Sonic Sherpa Social Club to receive store discounts and special mail outs. For contact details and operating hours, find Sonic Sherpa in the Stumble Guide.
