Snap up a SLO active sustainable swimsuit to help an ocean charity in need
Luxe swimwear with a heart – it doesn’t get much better than this for surfers, swimmers, divers and general beach frolickers.
Hailed as ‘the world’s most sustainable luxury oceanwear collection’, the debut range from SLO active only launched last month but is already making serious waves in the industry. The social enterprise is on a noble mission to help clean up and protect the ocean through its buy/give business model, Earth to Ocean, which means that for every piece bought, the company will donate three percent of revenue (not just profits) to the customer’s choice of its ocean charity partners. The current line-up includes Changing Tides Foundation, Project Aware and Plastic Oceans UK. The brand has also partnered with One Tree Planted to offset its carbon footprint by planting one tree for every garment sold. The brainchild of New Zealand-born founder Janaya Wilkins, SLO active has been in the pipeline for almost two years. The label is now on the brink of production but needs a little leg-up from pre-order sales to get it over the line – meaning that you can play an active role in bringing this dream to fruition.
SLO active’s signature Clean Lines collection features seven timeless pieces cut from the highly innovative and sustainable material, FSC-certified Yulex Pure™, a plant-based alternative to non-renewable neoprene. Classic cuts and thoughtful details make for a clever collection that is perfect for ocean dwellers of many guises – whether they be swimmers, surfers, snorkellers, divers or even the humble refuse-to-get-my-hair-wet sunbaker. Mix and match a range of all-black bikini tops and bottoms of varying coverage, from the Scoop bikini top to high-waist surf shorts, a racerback one-piece or a long-sleeved spring wetsuit, featuring handy additions such as hidden key loops and pockets, flattering contoured panels and corrosion-free zips.
Pre-order your pieces via Kickstarter before the campaign ends and your purchase will be lovingly crafted in a small, family-run factory in Italy before being shipped directly to your door by November.
