Show off your wares with the Extension Chair from Space
Do you like to show off your favourite wares? Do you have dresses hanging from the picture rail, bags draped over the doorknob, or hats on a wooden hat block?
Dutch designer Sjoerd Vroonland has designed the extension chair with a touch of ‘showing-off’ in mind, as well as the practicality of fulfilling the constant ‘where to hang your bag/coat’ dilemma upon arriving home each evening.
Drawing on the traditional customs of how a chair is used – as a bag holder at a restaurant or a chair-drobe at home when no one is looking – the extension chair features three interchangeable additions, including a coat stand, handbag-hanger and card holder.
Made from solid beech lacquered in matt black, place the chair at a table, in your walk-in wardrobe or simply as a feature piece against a blank wall to show off your latest fanciful purchase.
Combining thoughtful technology, craftsmanship and storytelling in the one design, Vrooland has taken the simplest form of furniture – a chair – and drawn attention to the interactions we have with it and the functions a chair performs each day. The extension chair is available at Space on James Street, New Farm.
