Nico adds style to sustainable, ‘un-sexy’ underwear

Good looks and good karma is what Nico Underwear is all about. Delivering ‘sexy’ underwear of a different kind is Brisbane fashion photographer (and now designer) Lis Harvey.

After graduating from photography at the Queensland College of Art and freelancing for a few years, a little fashion seedling began to sprout in the back of Lis’ mind.

Finding herself in a maze with no end while searching for practical yet style-driven lingerie, the idea for Nico began to grow and take shape, before snowballing into the label’s launch in December.

With all the materials sustainably sourced, the first collection features soft, breathable bamboo jerseys as well as some vintage fabrics. Making each piece by hand, Lis relished getting to know the manufacturing process intimately, spending many long hours perfecting her technique.

With fabrics currently being sourced and designs being scribbled for the next Nico collection, we can expect to see more of Lis’ work around mid-year.
