Good greens – a kokedama and indoor plant pop-up has landed in Winn Lane

Some time in the past couple of years, horticulture went from being a bit of a hobby for some people to a full-blown phenomenon – and quite frankly, we’re thrilled that it’s cool to love plants. Before the indoor plant trend started blowing up, a Brisbane lady by the name of Phoebe Hearsch was trying to figure out a way to spend more time at home with her two pooches, Max and Mort. Fast-forward four years and Phoebe is a one-woman show running her own kokedama and indoor plants business named after her beloved pups, servicing our fine city with little slices of lush on the regular.

After toying with various Pinterest-inspired projects like pottery and succulent propagation, Phoebe found an affinity with the art of kokedama – and thus, Max and Mort was born. Every piece from the brand is either chosen or hand-crafted by Phoebe herself, who uses her four years’ experience with kokedama to create truly stunning and sturdy pieces of living art. Drawn to the concept of urban jungles, Phoebe’s philosophy is that plants don’t need to be high-maintenance – which is why she makes it her mission to craft living ornamental pieces that are easy to care for (that means you too, serial plant murderers).

If this sounds like your cup of tea, you’re in luck – Max and Mort has recently taken up residence in a bricks-and-mortar location for a limited time! The Max and Mort pop-up is running now and will be taking up residence in Winn Lane until August 3, and will return from September 14 for another month. If you can’t make it in to the shop, don’t fret – all of Max and Mort’s beautiful wares are available to purchase in Brisbane through the brand’s Instagram page 24/7. Max and Mort will also be appearing at the James Street Food and Wine Trail Market Day to run a series of terrarium workshops with west elm and your friends from The Weekend Edition – keep an eye on our website for further details.

Want to make your life lusher? You can swing by the Max and Mort pop-up in Winn Lane from Wednesday to Sunday until August 3 – shop hours are 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.
