Unleash your inner viking at MANIAX’s new hatchet-heaving haunt in The City
Limber up your throwing arm – one of Brisbane’s leading immersive entertainment concepts has expanded to the inner city. Just before the end of 2023, MANIAX Axe Throwing opened its second Brisbane venue (and third in Queensland), transforming a subterranean space off Adelaide Street into a tomahawk-tossing emporium. In addition to plenty of axe-throwing lanes, MANIAX Brisbane City also comes with its own viking-inspired bar and restaurant offering. Take a peek inside …
Australia has been in the grip of MANIAX mania since owner Adam Schilling opened his first location in Sydney back in 2014. In the near decade since, the business has grown to encompass ten locations nation wide, including three right here in Queensland. MANIAX’s newest custom-designed destination – now open in the heart of Brisbane City – is a veritable Valhalla for long-time axe-throwing fans or those looking for an exciting spot to host their next birthday party or team-building event. If you’ve got some pent-up energy that you’re looking to unleash via a bit of target practice, MANIAX Brisbane City has everything you need. The venue boasts six private lanes (with two targets each and touch screens for games and keeping score) and 12 single-target Quick Chuck lanes. After a swift but comprehensive safety and technique briefing from one of the venue’s many ‘axe-perts’, guests can jump into some banter-filled tournaments.
This Brisbane City location is also where you’ll find Ragnar & Sons, MANIAX’s own fully licensed viking-style bar and eatery concept. Once you’ve worked up an appetite, this is the spot to refuel and regale your crew with tales of hard-earned victories (or epic misses) over some belly-filling bar food. We’re talking Thor’s Beef Brisket Burger, Loki’s Smoky Ironbark Pulled-Pork Burger, a slab of Norse Ribs (applewood-smoked, slow-cooked pork ribs), a Big Axe Supreme Pizza (loaded with pepperoni, mushrooms, olives, capsicum and shredded cheese) and baskets of Viking Drumettes (spicy chicken wings served with ranch sauce). The bar also offers mead tasting paddles (including sips of sweet, spiced and sparkling mead), cocktails served in genuine drinking horns, craft beers, wines and non-alcoholic options.
