Mango Rains releases ethical clothing range

Fashion may be one of the last things that springs to mind when thinking of Africa. Rather, it is the stereotype of poverty that seems to appear more readily. But it is in Africa where Brisbane-based designer Virginia Bailey decided she could combine her appreciation of African prints and her plight to support local African women lift themselves out of poverty.

After returning from her travels in Africa, Virginia founded Mango Rains, an ethical fashion business with social principles at its core. Each garment in the Mango Rains collection is manufactured in Australia, while wax-print fabric is sourced from the open-air markets of Africa. The net profits from every sale go towards helping to educate and train women in developing African nations.

Since its launch, Mango Rains has grown steadily and expanded to include shorts, trousers, skirts and tops in graphic ethnic prints. You can purchase the range online, and be confident in the knowledge that each dollar is going towards a good cause.
