Decorate your lad pad with a few prints
While women seem to be more than sorted in the print department, men often wonder how they, too, can inject a little art into their immediate environment.
When you were young, surfing and motorcycle posters seemed an appropriate choice – as did half-naked ladies, but let’s not go there – but now that everyone’s grown and acquired cultured and discerning tastes, we can often be at a loss as to what kind of graphic or hand-drawn work symbolises our personalities and would fit neatly into our lad pads.
Luckily there are creative prints like those from Arminho and Aldari on Etsy, which keep the gentlelad’s bare walls in mind. Arminho’s Whale Canvas poster is a vintage style illustration, which educates at the same time. Printed on canvas and supported by wooden slates, this illustration has been reproduced in watercolours from original whale drawings. For the chap with a penchant for photography, Arminho also creates a timeline poster of 11 film cameras from 1900 to 1990.
With moustaches all the rage in design, books topics and, of course, on faces at the moment, this moustache art print by Canadian graphic designer Alejandra will bring some comic minimalism to your homely confines. Or if your taste leans towards the quirky yet dashing, graphic designer and fine artist Brian Williams’ Extinct Birds series may tickle your fancy. Acting as a commentary on endangered animals, the works feature each species wearing clothing typical of the year they became extinct. We’re rather fond of the Great Auk.
