Meanjin is home to a number of streets that are well-known for their sipping, snacking and shopping repertoire. Bowen Hill’s food, fashion, art and entertainment precinct King Street is one of them, offering a number of top-notch eateries, residential developments and retail spaces. The newest addition to grace the lifestyle strip is bringing ethically-made, art-inspired wear that tells a story and makes a statement. Introducing Magpie Goose, an Aboriginal-owned clothing brand that is taking its beloved online offering to the streets with its first bricks-and-mortar store.

Sitting pretty at 30 King St, Magpie Goose is where you will find a beautiful line-up of bright and bold pieces, all of which celebrate Indigenous culture. Since its inception, the label has continued to provide a podium for Aboriginal artists to share their story and culture, threading social impact into every garment and supporting regional and remote communities. Magpie Goose promotes care for Country by treading softly on the earth – each original collection is made with minimal environmental damage to ensure every piece not only makes you look great, but feel great too.

Working with high-quality, 100-percent natural textiles and fibres, Magpie Goose’s vibrant collections are hand screen printed and produced in Australia in a way that best showcases the artists’ designs. Since its establishment Magpie Goose has worked with 54 First Nations artists, 70 First Nations models, 12 remote communities within the Northern Territory, Queensland and Western Australia, and given $560,000 in royalty payments back to its artists. This feel-good and funky fashion brand offers womenswear, menswear and kidswear, alongside a spectacular selection of accessories made from leftover off-cuts. Taking pride of place on the racks is a rainbow repository of one-of-a-kind dresses, patterned blouses, shirts and skirts, as well as super-cute scrunchies, bucket hats, bum bags and toiletry bags.

Magpie Goose is now open at 30 King Street. Pop in store on Monday to Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm or shop online at the Magpie Goose website
