Jelly sandals make a comeback this summer

For those who were lucky enough to have owned a pair of jelly sandals, the mention of the shoes is likely to conjure many fond childhood memories. They didn’t get smelly like your running shoes, they stretched a bit as your feet grew, sand from the sandpit didn’t get stuck in them and, possibly best of all, they came in pink shades and were usually speckled with glitter.

This childhood footwear staple has made a comeback this summer, with designers Marni, Burberry and Jimmy Choo all releasing their own take on the jelly trend, and local jelly sandal icon Jelly Beans reopening its factory doors.

Since its recent resurrection, Jelly Beans has begun producing jelly sandals for big kids as well as tiny tots. The sandals will be skipping into boutiques during the warmer months in the classic clear glittery sandal, as well as a range of neon hues and staple black and red shades. Come winter, you can continue reliving your childhood fashion foray by teaming a pair of Jelly Beans sandals with your favourite lace-fringed socks.

Other places where’ll you find jelly sandals this summer include Country Road and boutiques stocking eco-friendly melissa shoes.
