Brisbane label IdleBird reinvents sunsmart fashion

The word ‘sunsafe’ may not typically conjure images of elegance, but new Brisbane label IdleBird is turning the stereotypes upside down with a stylish range of tunics and tees.

We all have different ways of dealing with the harsh Aussie sun, and while you’re more than welcome to continue blocking those harmful rays with your handbag, leaping from shadow to shadow, or simply shutting yourself indoors, we’ve found a far simpler solution. New label IdleBird is squashing any negative misconceptions about sunsafe attire, with the launch of its debut collection of practical, stylish leisurewear for women.

Brisbane-based founder Kara Chiconi – who also runs Luxxbox with her husband Jason Bird – has designed a UPF50+ range of clothing, employing lightweight, quick-dry fabric that is both durable and chlorine resistant. The launch range currently features tunics and tanks, with the full collection of pants, shorts and capes due to be released by late summer. Browse the debut collection online.
