House of Cards pops up in Fortitude Valley
Empty store spaces are never a pretty sight with eyesore ‘for lease’ signs emblazoned across the front window. But it’s these empty shells that catch the entrepreneurial eye of young designers sans a store to call their own.
Local label House of Cards has taken the opportunity to fill one of these blank-canvas spaces with its intriguing prints and head-turning pastel fabrics for the month of October. The House of Cards pop-up shop is home to the latest collection by designer Ashiya Omundsen, entitled Swamp Monsters.
Boasting whimsical tones of mint, purple and navy, this spring/summer offering sees ruffles, high collars and unique prints (zombie eyeballs, anyone?) dotted throughout. Swimwear, platforms and a back pack also make an appearance in Swamp Monsters, with the name of each piece taking inspiration from creatures such as the Loch Ness, Cyclopes, Sphinx, Shark-Man and Salamander. Visit the pop-up shop to browse the latest collection as well as one-off pieces from the local label until October 31.
