Gotta get Theroux this – Louis Theroux is dropping his first radio and podcast series

As much as this *gestures widely* current situation is less than ideal, it’s sure as hell spawning amazing content from some of our favourite creatives. Award-winning filmmaker and unconventional sex symbol Louis Theroux is the latest curious mastermind to throw his hat in the ring, jumping onboard the podcast train after being commissioned by BBC Radio 4 to create some magic for all of us to enjoy.

Grounded with Louis Theroux will see the charismatic documentarian diving back into the world of celebrity interviews for the first time since his BBC Two series When Louis Met … debuted 20 years ago. Most of us are familiar with Louis’ work tackling weird, wild, niche and outrageous topics, but for this podcast he’s going to bring listeners up close and personal with some of the biggest names in the UK and the US. His time in lockdown has prompted him to track down people he’s been dying to have a chat with – and we get to reap the benefits of these high-profile conversations.

While a full line-up is yet to be announced, it has been confirmed that the first guest on Grounded with Louis Theroux will be writer and documentary maker Jon Ronson (of The Men Who Stare at Goats fame), who is presently grounded in upstate New York. The two professional rivals will chat about their friendly competition, inhabiting similar worlds and how they are handling the current lockdown, with no doubt many a delightful tangent thrown in for good measure. Other notable voices we can look forward to hearing are Lenny Henry, Boy George and Miriam Margolyes, with more to be revealed in the coming weeks.

Grounded with Louis Theroux will be available for streaming and download through BBC Radio 4 and the BBC Sounds app from Wednesday May 6 – until then, you can whet your appetite with a little teaser here
