Greenwood’s Home pops up at James Lane

Local online gifts and homewares store Greenwood’s Home has found a temporary spot to materialise in James Lane, just in time for a spot of Mother’s Day shopping. Owner Sarah McCarthy-James was inspired by her great grandfather Thomas Greenwood to start the store – he ran a small gift and homewares shop called Greenwood’s in England in 1917.

Keeping the family history alive, Sarah has reopened the shop to her own personal style, with Greenwood’s Home stocking beautiful handmade goods from local, Australian and fairtrade overseas makers. Working with likeminded businesses that are pioneering a handcrafted, eco and fairtrade future of shopping, Greenwood’s Home is about enjoying beautiful things in your home every day and not just bringing them out for special occasions.

Within the pop-up shop set just off James Street, browsers will find stationery from Ask Alice and the Rifle Paper Co., hand-screenprinted tote bags and tea towels from Maya Muse, The Dharma Door jute baskets from Bangladesh, Japanese tableware and ceramics from Shannon Muir. Julie Paterson of Cloth Fabric in Sydney designs and makes fabrics, which then get fashioned into lamps, cushions and aprons, while quick-drying 100% cotton Turkish towels can be used as bath or beach towels and as a sarong or impromptu tablecloth.
