From online to real time – wellness empire FitazFK opens its first bricks and mortar movement gym
Often when tragedy strikes, we are hit with a fight or flight reflex – do you cave in upon yourself or do you harness every fibre of strength you have to keep going? Nobody could fault Aaron McAllister for putting the breaks on his passion project to build a gym after the sudden and tragic passing of his wife Yasmin, but instead of abandoning their shared vision he stepped up to finish the job. The FitazFK movement gym has just opened its doors in Kangaroo Point as Aaron’s concrete legacy to a lifetime of love and memories, expanding an online fitness empire into the real world.
For Yasmin, Aaron and their friend and business partner Georgio Batsinilas, opening a gym to match the FitazFK online empire was always the dream. A few tough months since the tragedy, Aaron and Georgio sought the help of close friend Georgio Spiliarotakis to get the FitazFK gym opening back on track, fulfilling the original dream and honouring Yasmin’s memory. As well as utilising Yasmin’s original design plans, the space features a stunning mural of her – smiling and watching over the gym in spirit.
The FitazFK brand was born back in 2015, selling online fitness guides after building a hefty following aided by the hashtag #FitazFK. With more than 300,000 followers on Instagram, the FitazFK movement has been responsible for transforming roughly 40,000 bodies worldwide. If you think the crew is just cashing in on this online fame, think again. These guys are the real deal when it comes to tangible fitness results, with the gym, its classes and its staff all reflecting an ethos based on success without pretence. The business specialises in functional kinetic small group classes – think movement classes, HIIT, boxing, cycle, kick boxing, suspension training, yoga and pilates – alongside the fully equipped gym.
