Cape

Embrace whimsy and keep warm in a cape

While the mention of the word ‘cape’ tends to bring to mind imagery of Little Red skipping sweetly through the woods, capes are a very handy addition to any winter wardrobe. Whether worn cropped at the elbow or long to the knee, add a touch of whimsy and the dramatic to your creatively curated clothing.

Continuing the fairytale tradition, try American Apparel’s The Wool Cape in red or valentine for a bright, theatrical weekend number. The dark and brooding Trois Verde Cape and Zhivago Twisted Cape at Bessie Head provide a structured, darker, edgier take on this sleeveless garment.

There are even a few unknown labels tucked away in the coat section of Myer that are relatively easy on the pocket, 100% wool and handsome in design. Or if a houndstooth, 1960s-inspired poncho sounds more your style, try this handmade number by two Brisbane-based fashion students Karla and Eliza.
