Egg Records makes the move to West End
If you’re not a diehard vinyl fan, the petite sign revealing Eggs Records’ city presence may have eluded you since its opening a decade ago. But for the curious, and those who look up occasionally amongst the city’s centre, that little sign acted as beacon to a secret bazaar of musical goodness. Through a doorway, past a foreign money exchange kiosk and up a set of stairs, Egg Records resides, selling cult cartoon figurines and classic and collector vinyl.
Run by the ever-passionate Ric Trevaskis, the Brisbane Egg Records store has now made the move to a very open and accessible corner of West End. Adding to the ever-growing selection of cool along Vulture Street, Egg Records continues to offer the usual new and used vinyl, CDs and DVDs, and potentially the occasional cassette if you rummage thoroughly enough.
The musically aware visitor could spend hours in store, sorting through discs of pop, punk, reggae, rock and classical sounds, while anyone with a Beatles or Marvel fetish will salivate over the collectable statuettes and t-shirts. Egg Records also organises the twice-yearly Brisbane Record Fair held at the West End Club up the road, with the next fair on Saturday October 13. A delivery of 3500 records is due to arrive next week, so make sure to pop in post the unloading madness for first dibs.
