Edward and Lilly jewellery explores city versus country

Do you crave the crunch of nature underfoot, not the crunch of a discarded can? Inhaling mountain fresh air deep into your lungs, not a smoker’s passive clouds?

When you spend your days cooped up in an air-conditioned office, a need to escape to the wilderness and experience a natural environment builds up inside. Though spend too much time outdoors and city slickers will find themselves wanting a warm, super soft bed and a clean, tiled shower.

Finding the right balance between the city and the country has inspired locally crafted Edward and Lilly’s latest collection of accessories featuring cute critters and cityscapes. Creating vegan-friendly embroidered jewellery, homewares, soft toys and accessories, designer Rebecca Cason looked to nature, her city surroundings and the wanderlust of past travels in stitching together her latest pieces.

Using eco-friendly materials including linen, kunin eco felt, hemp and organic cotton, Rebecca sews and embroiders Edward and Lilly cuteness at night, while working at contemporary visual arts magazine Eyeline during the day. Country dreamers drape a necklace over your collar or pin on a brooch featuring a hand-stitched baby owl, bird, duck or squirrel, while those planning a city escape might prefer a cottage, building, house or bridge design.
