Discover the sustainable philosophies behind Çuval clutches

While its designs may feature in some rather upmarket boutiques, Turkish label Çuval is rather humble at heart. The creation of Ayse Ozgunes, Çuval translates to ‘sack’, with the name breaking down the medium of carry wear to its most basic form.

Founded in 2009, the accessories label is handmade in Istanbul, supporting and promoting local Turkish craftsmanship, and aspiring to spread the word on a global scale of this skilled handiwork and ethical consumption. Through a palette of burgundy, pewter, chocolate and silver, Çuval uses mill-end fabrics, including cotton, canvas and hemp, with white-gold hardware and natural-dyed Turkish leather to form its latest pieces.

Drawing inspiration from current trends, diverse culture, contemporary art and modern music, Ayse contrasts playful bright colours and patterns with the freedom of a global traveller in her designs, and always infuses the sustainable philosophies at her core. Stocked at The Outpost, Çuval’s pocket clutch, demi tote and bucket tote styles can all be found in-store.
