Sustainable fashion by Citizen Collective at the Vindie Markets
This weekend’s Vindie Markets at the Rumpus Room in West End will be packed full of pre-loved clothing, bohemian jewellery, gypsy lifestyle, homewares and art.
If your wardrobe needs sprucing up, head to the Vindi markets and pick up some fresh duds from Sarah Doblo’s Citizen Collective, a local label featuring garments with shapes of bygone times that are sustainable, high quality and ready to wear. Inspired by years gone by and by Sarah’s travels abroad, Citizen Collective highlights bold colours, intricate details and simple prints and all with the idea of one-off pieces. It’s all about that ‘glass slipper’ moment where you find that unique piece that fits you.
Sarah’s new range of eco-friendly designs under the label Bellegris will also be ready and waiting to be snapped up from the Citizen Collective stall tables at this weekend’s Vindie Markets. Bellegris is about updating vintage patterns with recycled and end of roll fabrics giving the material a home, which otherwise may not have been a sustainable one. The label specialises in applying old fabrics to modern designs and bringing multiple pieces into the collection with a range of sizes – something which is not achievable with pre-loved pieces. Bellegris aims to promote a bigger profile and message about sustainable design and fabrics encouraging individualism over the cookie-cutter and mass-produced concept of fashion. The Citizen Collective Lo-fi Life tee and tanks made from 100% organic cotton as well as curated vintage homewares will also be featuring at this weekends market, while the future will see other sustainable labels other than Sarah’s being promoted under the Citizen Collective banner with the goal of driving clean fashion in the boarder marketplace.
If you are a massive fan of thrifting, vintage and sustainable shopping then the Vindie Markets will make your day this Sunday May 22 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
