With this year’s Anzac Day services cancelled across the country and social distancing in full effect, sadly our traditional way of paying tribute to our veterans just isn’t possible right now. To help pass on the gratitude they deserve, Queensland-based startup Cardly has launched an online initiative so anyone, anywhere can send veterans a well-deserved thank-you card this Anzac Day – helping to make the upcoming day of remembrance both an occasion to honour our homegrown heroes and help bring a smile to a veteran’s face.

As well as a great way to remind our veterans that although they are isolated, they are not alone, Cardly’s Anzac Day cards will also raise money for some great charities. To help ship the thank-you notes to veterans and their families, Cardly is working closely with veterans organisations such as Legacy, War Widows Guild, RSL Lifecare and more. All profits from Cardly’s Anzac Day initiative will go to Legacy, a charity that provides services to Australian families suffering after the injury or death of a spouse or parent, during or after their defence-force service.

The Anzac Day cards are just $4 each and include a selection of pre-written gratitude messages that appear handwritten such as “Thank you for your service”, or simply “Lest we forget”. Alternatively, card senders can also write a personal note for a veteran or their family by going through Cardly’s main website. Each design was generously created by an independent artist who donated their time to create the bespoke prints. The messages of thanks will be printed using planet-friendly stock and shipped using a safe, eco-friendly card-delivery service to print and post straight to the veteran’s front door. Plus, Cardly also promises to plant five trees for every 100 cards sent – just a little extra green goodness on top of this already generous act.
