By . G brings timeless jewels with a distinct edge
When it comes to jewellery, it can be hard to find something that hits all of your marks across the board. Whether you’re shopping for yourself or a friend, the quest for the perfect piece can take quite a while. Well, folks, we’ve found something that will make your next quest for adornment a heck of a lot easier. By . G ticks all of our boxes – it’s hand-made, impeccably designed, out of the box without being impractical and (best of all) quite friendly on the wallet. With a rad new collection due to drop soon, we took a closer look at the Sydney brand.
By . G is the brainchild of Georgia Wyrill, a Bondi-based creative wizard who runs the brand as a one-woman show. After nabbing first-class honours with her Bachelor of Fashion Design at RMIT in Melbourne, Georgia went on to create a capsule collection in Melbourne Fashion week in 2012 before moving to Sydney and designing for names like Chanel and Rachel Gilbert. Inspired by her entrepreneurial father and creative mother, Georgia spent her weekends creating and honing the By. G concept before fully launching the brand in 2016.
The By . G design and manufacturing process is both thorough and intimate, with a collection being released biannually. Each collection is inspired by a number of things, with Georgia drawing upon a range of influences to create a unified and timeless offering. For example By . G’s spring/summer collection takes cues from the likes of Ancient Egypt, Alexander Calder mobiles, Romeo & Juliet and Solange Knowles. Shapes and proportions are perfected through a process of Georgia tinkering with gold paper mock-ups of designs, then sketching out completed pieces in minute detail. Once finalised, the products are either made by Georgia herself, cast locally or crafted by a Bangkok-based jeweller. Georgia is constantly experimenting with new materials like hand-blown glass and freshwater rice pearls to keep her collections fresh and interesting.
