Brisbane’s first Camper opens in Wintergarden

From opening its flagship store in Barcelona in 1981 to expanding to 300 stores worldwide today, Camper has opened its first Brisbane location in the newly renovated Wintergarden.

Encompassing comfort and creativity, Camper is the point where four generations of craftsmanship meets modern methods of shoe design. The very first Camper shoe was made with hard work in mind, constructed from worn-out tyre treads and the canvas from tyres themselves. Stitched together with hemp thread, they were delivered wrapped in old newspaper – no shoebox in sight.

With its rural roots always in mind, Camper continues to create quality, sturdy footwear for the urban consumer. Original styles revolved around the casual sports shoe, something that can be worn during and pre/post exercise, explaining Camper’s sometimes hardy approach to shoe and sandal design. Today the Spanish brand has expanded its design horizons, retaining functionality, comfort and quality, while delivering some unique ladylike designs. If your preference is for low heels, with leather so silky your foot slips smoothly in, try the Kim style on for size, taking inspiration from iconic Mary Janes.
