Celebrate the art of craft at the Brisbane Craft Party
Helping folk brush up on craft skills they may have long forgotten, a team of talented local artisans and designers is holding an evening’s worth of craft activities and workshops as part of the global Etsy Craft Party celebration.
Makers and Designers Australia and the Brisbane Brown Owls craft group will be hosting Brisbane’s event, with leading artisans and designers Jon and Julie Sutton, Trudy Florence, Amanda Whitelaw and Rebecca Cason on hand to help participants unleash their inner creative.
This year’s Etsy Craft Party theme is based around bringing new meaning to photographs by transforming them into display-worthy works of art. Crafty folk are asked to bring along some photographs to apply a range of techniques to, including illustration, paper cutting, embroidery, collage and journaling. Edward and Lilly will be demonstrating embroidery and needlework, while Trudy from Trudy Florence Papercutting will be helping participants with paper cutting and photo journalling. Jon and Jules from Sconnie and Jam will also be teaching the art of paint and pen embellishment and paper photo bunting.
The Brisbane Craft Party will be held at the Buffalo Hall, 30 Seeney Street, Zillmere on Friday, June 6 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Bookings are essential and entry is $20 at the door, which includes all workshops and materials, a complimentary drink and nibbles, a sample bag loaded with crafty goodies and entry in the lucky door prize.
