Cheer on the Brisbane Bandits baseball pros tonight

The smack of the bat, the soaring baseball, the cheers and jeers of the ground – these are the sound effects that will be ricocheting around the AFA Stadium as the Australian Baseball League season kicks off in Brisbane tonight.

The countdown is on for the launch of the 2014/15 Australian Baseball League season, with just a few hours to go until the very first game is played on Brisbane turf. Brisbane’s professional baseball team the Brisbane Bandits will be scrambling across the plates at the refurbished AFA Stadium at Holloway Field in Newmarket from 6:30 pm tonight, as the boys go head to head against Adelaide Bite in the opening-night match.

Twenty-one home season fixtures will be played until Sunday January 18, with four games being hosted in Newmarket this weekend. As one of the six founding teams of the Australian Baseball League, the Brisbane Bandits has welcomed the return of baseball great and Olympic legend David Nilsson to the role of coach.
