Keep snug while bringing the beanie back

The winter chill has finally arrived, leaving us hitching our socks up higher and knotting scarves a little tighter in hope of fighting off the cold. As it’s our furthermost appendages (hands, feet, head) that need the most assistance in keeping toasty – or so mum used to say – slip on a super woolly beanie preferably complete with pom-pom on top.

Maintaining a laid-back look, the beanie has been donned by surfer dudes, skaters and upon camping trips in modern manly times, while its history spans as far back as the 12th century in velvet form. Try the Vanguard Punter or Tacklebox beanie on for size, with enough length to cover your ears.

Vanishing Elephant also does a 100% knitted cotton beanie in khaki, navy and cream stripes, or General Pants in Brisbane’s CBD has a stack of styles. Gents who can style a beanie around their ‘do without smushing it down like they’ve been frantically cycling for an hour get extra kudos.
