Boys and their Toys Studio Tour

Tour the studios of Brisbane’s gentlemanly creatives

Inspiration comes in many guises, but one sure-fire way to get the creative sparks cracking is with a natter to some of the city’s best artists and a peek inside their studios.

Creative inspiration is a mysterious beast. It can come while you’re out on the ocean, strapped into a plane or while dozing off to sleep. If you’re intrigued to explore where some of Brisbane’s most gifted male makers source their inspiration, join the Boys and their Toys Studio Tour on Saturday August 31. Kicking off at 1:00 pm, the expedition will start with a viewing of Japanese architecture exhibition Parallel Nippon in the artisan gallery in Fortitude Valley, before zig-zagging across Brisbane by bus.

Have a gander behind the scenes into the creative spaces of photographer Toby Scott, architect Nick Flutter, eyewear design company Holloway, Steve Barry and Leo Yip from custom motorcycle design company Ellaspede, and Alexander Lotersztain and Erik van Genderen from West End restaurant Depo. The designers and makers will discuss their spaces, their creative tools and the art of their practice. Buy tickets online.

The Weekend Edition is giving away a double pass to the Boys and their Toys Studio Tour. Email [email protected] to enter.
