Boyfriend jeans trend

Loosen up your style with boyfriend jeans

Allowing us to take a breather from the uncomfortable outfits we normally push and shove ourselves into in the name of style, boyfriend jeans have re-entered this season’s denim shapings. Channelling a certain relaxed elegance that’s both comfortable and effortless, a well-worn pair of boyfriend jeans was a mainstay of a 1990s wardrobe.

Borrow a baseball tee or logo-emblazoned sweatshirt from your closest man friend and pair with leopard-print pumps to keep things feminine, or your favourite Chuck Taylors for an off-duty, just-ducked-out-for-coffee look. Rolling the hem is advisable, cuffed either above the ankle or to the three-quarters mark, depending on your jeans’ ability.

Meshing slouchy t-shirts, oversized blazers and structured shirting creates contrast amongst the overall shape, with the key aim to work out an outfit that doesn’t let your natural line get swamped by all the extra material. A stand-out belt will also help to bring perspective to your silhouette, while we’ve noticed a few torn knees roughing things up.

If you prefer to meet slouchy and skinny halfway for your first pair, try the Lee Dylan Jean in Brooklyn Blue on for size, while The Time Limit slouchy boyfriend jean from sass & bide and Acne’s Pop Betty jean embrace a looser fit.
