Pair boots and jeans to cover cold ankles

Standing at the train station first thing in the morning in the freezing misty air, wearing cuffed jeans and oxfords with a bare ankle is not the most cosy dress option for winter. As you stand chilled to the bone, not even socks could save your toes from numbness.

Insert – the boot. Exuding a rugged, masculine appeal when paired with a cuffed tapered jean casually half-tucked into the top rim, the coupling of boots and jeans makes not only a warm argument, but also a sartorial one. Socks can be hidden inside the high ankle for extra warmth or left to poke out the top if you enjoy a spot of eccentric sock action.

When wearing with a skinny jean, cuff the hem higher up the calf, before pushing either some of the cuff back in the top of the boot. Or position the hem of chino or looser-fitting pants so that it sits in line with the top of the boot – you don’t want to lose the details the cordwainer spent so long crafting. Whether a softly structured desert boot with contrasting sole, or a high-top, lace-up military variety, you can get your hands on a selection of styles at Aquila in Brisbane City.
