Sneak a peek at batson. autumn/winter 2013

Just like a well-executed film trailer, a preview to a fashion collection is an irresistible teaser for what’s to come. Take a glimpse into next season’s creations from quirky Australian-Londonite label batson. with the brand’s preview for its luscious autumn/winter 2013 capsule, Canto #1.

The womenswear label is now based in bustling London town, but it originated a little closer to home. The migration was the result of head designer Bianca Batson’s desire to perfect her skills with a studying stint at the renowned creative school Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.

The residing theme in batson.’s clothing is a focus on girly cuts that feature distinct digital prints. This is a theme that continues in the autumn/winter 2013 collection, Canto #1. The shapes are simple in structure, making them a timeless addition to any wardrobe and lessening the likelihood that you will suffer from the annoying guilt trip that is buyer’s remorse. Within the collection, soft colours intermix with patterns that are reminiscent of a trip through a watercolour painting – smudges of reds and light blues help to shade pieces and add dimension.

It seems that the clothes are also a great way to enjoy the Queensland summer in style, with creamy artist smocks and airy backless blouses composing the majority of the ladylike collection. For a preview of the pieces, head to batson.’s Facebook page or pre-order individual garments via Not Just a Label.
