Anna Spiro’s new store adds a dash of colour to Brunswick Street

Anna Spiro’s name has become synonymous with bold, colourful design. Vibrant patterns and charming pieces grace the designer’s Instagram, which transports you to trinket-filled cottages and homely abodes. Now, Brisbane locals can get inspired by the renowned designer IRL, as Anna Spiro has just opened her much-anticipated Spiro Store on the corner of Brunswick and Kent Street in New Farm.

Housed in an eye-catching Art Deco building, the newly open Spiro Store’s colourful aesthetic is a welcome addition to New Farm’s bustling Brunswick Street. Curious shoppers and avid homewares collectors will be happy to learn that in true Anna Spiro style, the shop is bursting at the seams with creativity, colour, and beautiful things made with care, as well as pre-loved beauties just waiting to be loved again. We’re talking bespoke armchairs, special custom-made cushions, unique antique pieces of furniture, old textiles and hand-made pottery and plates that have been painted by Australian artisans. You can even order one of Spiro’s Australian-made pieces of furniture in a fabric of your choosing. Speaking of fabric, Anna’s own textiles are available to purchase by the meter or can be used to make furniture, cushions, lamp shades and curtains.

Oh, and it’s not just your home that can get the Anna Spiro treatment. The Spiro Store will also be showcasing a small collection of vintage threads and unique garments you can’t find anywhere else. Anna hopes the store will encourage people to take a slow approach to design and to appreciate the effort that goes into making quality pieces from scratch. “It’s about buying things that last a lifetime,” she says “rather than the quick fix, throw away culture that we have all been immersed in over the last few years.” Although Anna works on many large house projects across the country and her work has featured in publications like Vogue, House & Garden and The Wall Street Journal, Spiro Store is the primo place for those who just want a small piece of that awe-inspiring Spiro style to add to their home. For shoppers who can’t make it to the store, an online offering is available at the Spiro Store website. Customers can also FaceTime in the store with one of the in-house decorators or work via email correspondence. Talk about convenience!
