Adorn yourself in garments from the new collection from Alexis, Eclectic
Inspired by fresh beginnings and cathartic cleansing, the new collection from New South Wales label Alexis, Eclectic blends quintessential Australian imagery and themes with a subtle but impressive colour palette.
Alexis Withers started her own label Alexis, Eclectic during her studies at fashion school in 2013, honing her craft and discovering her own aesthetic before concentrating on the label properly in 2015. Alexis, Eclectic’s newest conceptual collection Backburn marks a departure for Alexis in terms of colour palette and tone – moving away from some of the colourful and bright looks of previous collections in favour of a more sombre approach. Backburn’s signature patterns include subtle watercolour touches and pops of red, creating a strong visual that is eye-catching while remaining composed.
The collection was originally inspired by the desire to move on from friendships and relationships that were negative aspects of Alexis’s life, drawing parallels to the practice of back-burning to evoke a feeling of cleansing and new growth. The collection’s dual prints reflect this catharsis, with a dark and dense pattern and a light and sparse counterpart symbolising the before and after. Backburn includes a range of garments including silk blouses, tailored pants and silk scarves, with all pieces being made by small producers in Sydney or in Alexis’s own studio outside of Orange in New South Wales. Backburn is available for pre-order now through the Alexis, Eclectic webstore.
