Discover hidden boutique 180a Latrobe in Paddington

Tucked underneath brunch hotspot Hamptons Home Living in Paddington is new studio and boutique space, 108a Latrobe. The space has been quietly serving as a studio for local sculptor and jewellery designer Kathy McLay for the past two years, but a chance meeting with clothing designer Katelyn Aslett has seen the hidden studio transformed.

Found by descending the wooden steps to the right of Hamptons Home Living, 180a Latrobe acts as a boutique for the one-off pieces of jewellery, clothing and homewares designed by the pair. Katelyn’s creative process sees her shape large collages of objects before photographing them and digitally printing the designs onto fabric. These uniquely printed silks are then transformed into dresses, tops and scarves, and embellished with beading and abstract felt motifs.

Kathy’s namesake label sees her working with silver, gold, bronze and platinum, as well as semi-precious stones, to form a range of unique, one-off jewellery, including dress and engagement rings. The shop is still nutting out exact opening hours, but the ladies will usually be there tinkering away at their trades outside the specified 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
