Ya Ya Bar and Eatery, Samford

New spring menu at Ya Ya Bar and Eatery, Samford

A quick trip to the serene mountainside can be good for renewing the city-dweller soul – revelling in the fresh air, the smell of nature, the quiet. Without leaving Brisbane, you can happen upon the sleepy little suburb of Samford, which – upon closer inspection – isn’t so sleepy.

Garnering the best of both worlds is Ya Ya Bar and Eatery on Main Street, known for its humming atmosphere garnished with retro epicure. At lunch, the mood is peaceful and relaxed, while come Sunday afternoon the locals gather for live music and sangria.

Boasting a new spring menu, Ya Ya Bar and Eatery brings an urbane feel to hills of Samford. The new breakfast, lunch, dinner and tapas menus are the creation of new chef Sam Potter, who trained under Philip Johnson. Owners Jamie McIntyre and Jodie Johnson have rolled out the fresh dinner and tapas menu this week, with the breakfast and lunch offerings to closely follow.

If grazing is the order of the day, start with the Butcher’s Block of cured meats, house pickles and bread, followed by dukkah-crusted sweetbreads with relish and caper mayo. Or if you’re looking for some wholesome, hearty fare, sample the Roast Pork Belly with Fennel, Apple Pear Slaw and Maple Jus, with the retro-inspired Ya Ya Banana Sundae with banana mousse, caramel and chocolate ice-cream and hazelnut biscotti to close. Ya Ya Bar and Eatery has also commenced wine-tasting and food-matching nights on the first Wednesday of the month, with the next event on October 3.
