Welcome to Wonderland – The Valley’s newest night club and live-music super venue

When it comes to after-dark haunts, Patrick Donohue and Justin Kong, who have brought us the likes of Ling Ling’s, Cindy Chow’s and Newstead Social, certainly know a thing or two. Boasting an almost 20-year portfolio of top-notch nightspots, Patrick and Justin knew Brisbane’s nightclub scene needed a shake up, and they were going to be the ones to deliver it. Introducing Wonderland Brisbane – Fortitude Valley’s new mega-club and live-music super venue featuring two levels, three entertainment areas and room for 1000 punters.

Holding pride of place at 633 Ann Street, where iconic Brisbane venues such Woolly Mammoth and Mustang Bar lied before it, Wonderland’s enormous size, layout and flow is second to none for venues of its kind. So when the space became available, Patrick and Justin were quick to snap it up. “I was looking for a space large enough to offer a variety of genres, platforms and opportunities for Brisbane to enjoy,” says Patrick. “The venue became available and it was a no brainer.” Staying true to the Ann Street venues lineage, Wonderland’s size and structural layout remains the same. “What we’ve done is retain the functioning components and give the venue a full facelift,” says Patrick. “The previous operators had a great run with the venue and it’s truly one-of-a-kind.”

As soon as you step through Wonderland’s doors you are met with a slick Miami-inspired aesthetic, with more than 50 moving head lights, multi-head lasers, beam bars and CO2 jets, before your eyes quickly rest on an oversized dance floor and perhaps Brisbane’s longest bar. When you’ve taken that all in you’ll make your way up one of two staircases, which will transport you to a completely different room, boasting a completely different look and feel. Expect throwback party-starters, an EDM room, RNB tunes and a bounty of live bands and DJs for rowdy revellers to boogie to. The multifaceted venue houses two main stages, each equipped with thumping sound systems and wall-to-wall LED screens, and if the beats get too much, a semi-open air deck offers the perfect breezy break-out space for those looking for a more relaxed vibe. Scattered around the venue are multiple tables and booths that offer bottle service, including the main stage booth located directly behind the DJ, which allows for up to 20 guests and includes a magnum of CIROC. Those feeling thirsty after a big night on the dance floor can recharge with Wonderland’s spectacular selection of shooters, cocktails and beers on tap including it’s signature lager.
