Art meets plate for the multi-sensory dinner We Who Eat Together at GOMA
As part of the celebrations surrounding QAGOMA’s major summer exhibition Sugar Spin: you, me, art and everything, an artist and a chef will be collaborating on a seven-course dinner that will have foodies and art lovers salivating.
Let’s face it – a perfectly plated meal is basically a work of art. GOMA’s EAT/Drink Award-winning restaurant is taking the idea and running with it as part of the activity surrounding the Sugar Spin: you, me, art exhibition. We Who Eat Together is a multi-sensory dinner taking place at GOMA Restaurant on Thursday February 23, featuring a collaboration between Brisbane-based artist Elizabeth Willing and QAGOMA’s executive chef Josue Lopez.
So, how will a collision of art and food take shape? The seven-course degustation will be paired with artistic touches throughout, with sculptural and sensorial elements showcasing how our world perception changes when different senses are activated. Guests will enjoy dishes such as Reef Treasure (Bay lobster with pearl, cauliflower and seaweed), eaten while wearing bespoke floral headdresses made from lemon myrtle and fennel, and Lip Smackerz, which fuse strawberry, bubble gum and almond, served with sparkling strawberry juice in a ceramic mouth cup.
