Touch-screen fun times at Wagaya, Fortitude Valley

Wagaya has been running hot since opening at the end of last year, partly due to its novelty touch-screen ordering system, and partly because of the food.

A fun atmosphere for a night out with friends, Wagaya serves up speedy Japanese-style cuisine at the press of a button. After being ushered to your cosy booth, the waiters leave you to your own devices, and you can pick items from the digital menu. From drinks and glasses for your BYO wine to bowls of essential edamame and other share plates, everything is ordered through the touch screen, meaning less interruptions from waiters and enhanced fun times with friends.

Adventurous foodies might opt for the sea urchin, octopus, ox tongue and eel dishes, or try their hand at the Sushian Roulette – a wasabi challenge where one in six pieces of sushi is filled with a hidden explosion of green fire. Try the Agedashi sticky rice cake served with tempura vegetables and the sky salmon skewers. Food arrives super swiftly – meaning you can get a little too excited ordering more dishes, resulting in a long bill. This Brisbane outfit is also open for lunch serving up a range of noodles, nibbles and lunch boxes.
